Strengthening the Internal Market – time for a ‘new deal’ for European standardisation?

31 March, 10.45 - 12.15, Stanhope Hotel Brussels

Coffee and registration from 10.30

A central pillar of a successful industrial strategy will be an efficient Single Market, underpinned by a well-run system for the development, assessment and use of harmonised standards – essential for enabling the free circulation of products. However, in recent years companies have been facing serious issues with the current EU governance for harmonised standards. In this roundtable, we investigate the need for a ‘new deal’ for standardisation: what can the European Commission and other stakeholders do to ensure harmonised standards remain attractive and relevant for companies operating in the Single Market? And what are the consequences of failing to act?

The event will be hosted by Orgalim President Rada Rodriguez and moderated by Orgalim's Director for Better Regulation, Compliance and Standards, Philippe Portalier and a selected group of experts will contribute to this important discussion on the future of EU industrial policy.

This roundtable is part of the event "European industrial strategy in focus", a morning of three interactive debates that will zoom in on policy issues central to a forward-looking industrial strategy - see more information here
